The UNESCO Silk Roads programme is pleased to announce the digital publication of the 3rd edition of the photo album Youth Lens on the Silk Roads: Best Photos from the International Silk Roads Photo Contest

The album showcases the winning images from each of the age categories of the 2021 edition of the International photo contest Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads, as well as a collection of 70 of the very best submissions as chosen by the International Selection Committee. The album, which also includes reflections on the shared heritage of the Silk Roads from each of the young photographers featured, follows the winners announcement held in Beijing, China, on the occasion of Peace Garden Peace Festival, in partnership with the China World Peace Foundation

The annual ‘Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads’ photo contest is divided into two age categories: 14-17 year olds, and 18-25 year olds. This year participants were invited to submit photographs that best encapsulate the shared heritage of the Silk Roads through one or more of the parralel themes of ‘Textiles and Clothing’ and ‘Intercultural Exchanges in the time of Covid-19, Including in the Field of Textiles and Clothing’. The Selection Committee members then examined these submissions and selected the winners from each of the age categories as well as a shortlist of the best photos that capture the spirit of the contest.

The full album is available online and can be accessed through the UNESCO Digital Library here
